Establishing a network of in-orbit facilities for satellite servicing
This project studies how to establish a network of in-orbit facilities capable of servicing a growing population of satellites. We investigate where such facilities should be located, how many are needed, and how their coverage should be sized, adapting classical facility location and covering location models to the constraints of space-based operations — including the periodic, ever-changing geometry of satellite orbits.
We specifically study how classical Operations Research models for facility location and covering translate to an in-orbit space context.
