The course moves from production environments, job shop scheduling, and line balancing, through inventory management, aggregate production planning, and material requirements planning, concluding with graph theory and classic algorithms for efficient transport routing.

Supply Chain Management

A practical, hands-on introduction to supply chain management, equipping students with the language and frameworks professionals use every day at the strategic, tactical, and operational level. The course covers supply chain strategy and strategic fit, demand forecasting, network design, and risk management under uncertainty, before turning to supply chain integration and closing with warehousing and circular supply chains.

Advanced Supply Chain Management

Building on the foundations of Supply Chain Management, this course combines advanced quantitative modelling — linear and mixed-integer programming, multi-criteria decision-making, and sensitivity and robustness analysis — with cutting-edge thinking on the future of logistics, including the physical internet, self-organising logistics, game theory, and the role of AI in supply chain management. It also covers multi-echelon inventory management and disruptions in global supply chains. The course is grounded in practice through real supply chain case studies, guest lectures from industry and academia, and a business-oriented supply chain event.

Simulation Techniques

An introduction to discrete event simulation as a tool for analysing and improving complex, uncertain systems. The theoretical part covers the fundamentals of discrete event simulation and queueing theory, followed by an introduction to a professional simulation software package. In the second part, students work in teams on an extensive simulation project, modelling a real-life system of their choice from the ground up, comparing alternative configurations, and translating the results into evidence-based recommendations.
