OR 4 Space

Thousands of satellites support everyday life, from telecommunications to navigation and Earth observation, and their number is growing fast. Keeping them operational calls for refuelling, repair and upgrade missions. These pose classic logistics questions in a new setting: where to place service facilities, how much to stock, and when to dispatch each mission. In this domain I adapt Operations Research models to space-based operations, and I bring the OR and space engineering communities together, for example through the OR in Space stream at IFORS.
